Job Description:
A new contractor in the Data Warehouse Data Analyst, Ad-Hoc
Report Writer role is needed in the Enterprise Information
Management group to replace an individual moving to the Core
project. This position is to provide report ad-hoc functions for
the Quick Response Report Team within the Enterprise Information
Management organization. This resource will work on Core and
non-Core ad-hoc report requests for three months to augment the
activities currently performed by the existing Ad-Hoc Report
Writer.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for interfacing with internal and
external users in the design and development of the ad-hoc reports
and production data extracts. This person will capture
requirements, design, create, manage, and fulfill requests for
reports and information. The Data Analyst Ad-Hoc Report Writer uses
their knowledge of reporting writing tools such as T-SQL, SQL Query
Analyzer, SQL Server Management Studio and SQL Server Integration
Services (SSIS) to develop and deliver reports and data extracts to
users.
Essential Functions:
? Perform data analysis and report development activities for
Ad-Hoc Reporting Team.
? Analyze source system data to understand the data structure,
definitions and anomalies.
? Interact with customer as needed to better define and understand
reporting requirements.
? Interact with other technical team members to establish reporting
requirements.
? Perform daily SQL query and report writing, when requested.
? Develop SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages to
extract large data sets for user requests.
? Ability to program in SQL to perform the data query, reporting
and data extract functions.
? Document report designs and processes in a clear and concise
manner.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
? Excellent SQL query skills.
? Strong data analysis and report writing skills.
? Relational and Star Schema / Dimensional database design
knowledge.
? Ability to be flexible and work within a team environment.
? Ability to effectively communicate in non-technical terms with
business unit management and end users for information and
reporting delivery solutions.
? Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
? Ability to read, interpret and develop Data Flow Diagrams.
Required Education:
? Bachelor's Degree in MIS, Computer Science or related field. Four
years of related experience can substitute for the degree.
? 4 years of experience to include:
? SQL Server 2005 or 2008 relational database experience
? SQL and Microsoft T-SQL Query and Report Writing experience
